
Udzungwa Mountains
The Udzungwa Mountains National Park, a biodiverse haven within Tanzania’s Eastern Arc Mountains, is renowned for its pristine forests, dramatic waterfalls, and exceptional hiking opportunities. Established in 1992, this 1,990 square kilometer park boasts a remarkable array of flora and fauna, including over 400 bird species and six primate species, two of which (the Iringa red colobus and the Sanje crested mangabey) are endemic. With no roads within the park, exploration is on foot via a network of trails ranging from short day hikes to challenging multi-day treks, rewarding visitors with stunning scenery and encounters with unique wildlife in this ecologically significant and largely untouched environment.
